Girl Power! 

The award winning program is based on the premise that girls can be in the non-traditional workforce including welding, construction, machining and HVAC. This program has been in existence for four years during which over 70 eighth grade girls have spent a week learning about manufacturing, getting hands on experience at PIoneer Technology in the Industry Programs and have toured several industry locations including Cookshack, Head Country BBQ, Phillips66 Refinery and CME. Teachers and 7th grade girls can submit names for this camp starting in March, 2019. For more information and to submit a candidate for Girl Power! Careers & Cookies

Is a partnership program with Ponca CIty High School, affectionately nicknamed Po-Hi. Students use their study period to attend a program that assists Junior and Seniors get ready for job training and job placement. INformation covered in these programs include resume and job applications, interviewing, dressing appropriately and skills assessment. In January, these students attend a Career Luncheon with local industry and must cycle through three employers, making small talk, answering and asking questions. For many of these students, this is a first interview. Career & Cookies works with Junior and Senior students to set up job shadows, internships and formal job interviews during the spring break time frame. The Manufacturing Education Training System (METS) program is an effort formed by local manufacturers, Pioneer Technology Center, and the Ponca City Development Authority that promotes careers in the manufacturing industry. Pioneer Technology Center’s METS trailer is on the road to help grow Oklahoma’s workforce through hands-on educational encounters for young and adult learners alike! Manufacturing Day is celebrated during Manufacturing Week, the first week in October. Well, in Ponca City we celebrate manufacturing all year long because 21.2% of the Ponca City workforce have jobs in manufacturing with an average manufacturing wage of $64,700. Ponca Works holds 2 public job fairs per year, with great attendance and turn out!  They are generally held in the spring and fall, at no cost to the local employer.  Extensive marketing, community partnering, interview rooms, resume help, computer labs for online applications and more are available.  If you have a significant amount of jobs to fill, Ponca Works will work with you to host a job fair for a specific company or small section of industry.  Contact Ponca Works for more information
