THIS WEEK…PCDA staff found ourselves talking to a lot of people: business owners; companies seeking buildings; building owners seeking tenants and the occasional product developer, business start-up and of course, our very own Board of Trustees at the regularly scheduled meeting yesterday. Whew. And we can't talk about the things we talked about because, hey, confidential. What we can talk about is companies continuing to need employees; new tenants and expanding existing tenants at City Central; and spotlighting some of the best loved and loyal workers in our community. Check out the inaugural section of "Dogs of Industry" below.

Topics at the October PCDA Board of Trustee meeting included automation in industry (robotics and AI), available land and buildings and to build or not to build (the next PCDA Spec Building), the City Central lighting project (which we can talk about) and just how many leads have been responded to by staff the last few weeks. Currently, this includes three leads, 11 total projects for a total of 635 possible jobs. Are you thinking you missed out on more than a free cup of coffee by not coming to this particular Board of Trustee Meeting? Well, you are right. Keep reading for updates and check out upcoming events.
And staff didn't even mention the workforce survey currently making the rounds with industry. (insert head slap). Thank you to our companies for participating!

BRUTUS
Meet Brutus, the Chief Canine Officer at Custom Mechanical Equipment & Custom Powder & Blasting!
CME/CPB are family owned businesses and Brutus joined the family in the Spring of 2019 when Erik, Laura, Evan, and Lilly Peitz adopted Brutus from the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society. The family was actually on vacation in Hawaii when he was posted on the website. Laura saw him on Facebook and fell in love immediately. By day four of their vacation, they knew there would be a new four legged family member when they got home.
Once Erik and Laura picked Brutus up, it was pretty obvious he was a unique dog; His personality is absolutely hilarious. Erik took him to work to meet everyone and just like Laura, everyone at CME/CPB fell in love with Brutie right away. He has come to work every day since. If Erik is gone and Brutus is not here, everyone is always asking after him. Brutie spends 90% of his day snoring louder than a grown man and eating 50% of EVERYONES lunches. His favorite day is Friday because it is snack day for the shop and no one says no to sharing with Brutus. He is hands down, everyone’s very favorite employee at CME.

Is your small company growing? Looking at expansion? Hiring more people? Buying a building? Investing in equipment? Welcome to the Phase II Pitch-off. Think "Shark Tank" for Ponca CIty companies. The criteria for Phase II includes a five-minute pitch to three judges and up to a 15 minute Q&A period after the pitch when the judges ask questions to clarify any pitch point of the company. During the pitch, the business representative(s) will need to cohesively present their business proposition, uses and needs for a $10,000 line-of-credit, a Profit & Loss statement and written overview. These materials will be submitted the week prior to the Pitch date of November 10th and distributed to the judges participating. The judges will be zooming in to hear these pitches. More criteria and information can be found here. Come on! You know you wanna. Former Small Business Pitch-off contestants are encouraged to participate.
