WEEKLY UPDATE      August 10th, 2007
LETS MAKE A DEAL
...has been the theme at PCDA this week. We’ve been telling you for months about a couple of companies with whom we were on version 57.0 or whatever of agreements under negotiation. Well two of them are reeeaaalll close, (no…really). This week the final versions look like they received the final handshake and may be ready for a vote by the PCDA Board of Trustees. We’d like to tell you that they will be on the agenda for the board meeting next week, (see below) but we can only, at this point, tell you that we think they will be. The proposals are back for final inspection with the companies. What happens is that the negotiations go back and forth, (and back and forth and back and forth and…) until everyone agrees. Then the final language is inserted, which was done this week, and the final version goes back through the companies and PCDA to make sure that all of the language is exactly what everyone thought they wanted to say but were not sure that the way they said it was, in fact, the language that would accomplish that which was agreed. You get the picture.

PCDA BOARD TO MEET AND RETREAT
...next Friday, the PCDA Board of Trustees will hold the regular monthly board meeting talking about the Pioneer Tech Plan Room, officer elections, construction projects and the usual closed session to direct negotiations, (see above). We hope the agreements mentioned above will also be considered, if we can get over the final hurdles in the next couple of days. The meeting, which will be held at the Chamber, begins at 7:30 a.m. Following the meeting, the Board will go to the Big Fork Ranch for a retreat to discuss the general direction of PCDA’s economic development programs. No decisions will be made nor will any specific company or potential deal be discussed. Any direction that requires a decision will be scheduled for a future board meeting. There will be no closed session held at the retreat and anyone who wants to come and eavesdrop is welcomed. Maps to the Big Fork Ranch are available at the PCDA office or by calling 765-7070. The retreat is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and be over no later than 3:00 p.m.

KENTUCKY COURTIN
...this week, PCDA’s Tim “It’s not whiskey, it’s fermented apple juice” Burg was in Kentucky talking to economic development leaders about Ponca City programs. Word has gotten out and our Kentucky cousins, er, you know what we mean, invited and paid the way for Burg to come over and brief them on how we do what we do.

BROKER COURTIN
...PCDA’s new web based GIS system, which has also received national press, will be the subject of a luncheon PCDA will sponsor for commercial real estate brokers on August 20th. The GIS system is a high tech real estate tool but we need to keep the current listings, well, current. That’s where the commercial real estate brokers come in.
