AND THE WINNER IS...The "GoPonca Team" ...consisting of our own Tim Burg, Dennis Ruttman of Pioneer Technology Center and Steve Crank of Oklahoma Employment Security Commission was once again in action this week at the 2nd annual Taking Care of Business Conference in Oklahoma City. The Team was showing attendees how to effectively find and train skilled workers in a low unemployment area. Unbeknownst to them, there was an ulterior motive in this presentation. Our GoPonca Team was announced as the winner for "Business Retention and Expansion Program of the Year" for the State of Oklahoma. Kudos to all the members of the team and all the people who help make Ponca City a great place to live and work. THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKING ...and that's just what Tim Burg and David Myers did these week, with a few miles of driving and airplane flight mixed in for variety. David was traveling with a delegation from Oklahoma to visit Washington D.C. to help create warm fuzzies (and name recognition) for the UML Sensor Testing Center. Tim headed to Kansas City, Missouri (to be joined by David after the Washington visit) to the CEDIC Innovation and Capital Formation Conference at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. This Conference is designed to boost collaboration among Big 12 universities, foundations, state governments and private section businesses as a means to encourage and foster innovation-driven economic development in the central United States. Translation: It's a BIG CONFERENCE. This coincides with the Kauffman Foundation's "Entrepreneurship Week" Feb. 24 through March 3, 2007. Big 12 Conference FLOWER POWER ...Once again, Oklahoma State University is the business support university for local entrepreneurs. Success in business and life is not just what you know, but who you know and who and what they know… ya know? Making "flower power" "knowing power". Making use of OSU's Product Development Center and actively linking the resources of their faculty, staff and students helps Ponca City's small manufacturers thrive in today's market. The New Product Development Center focuses on working with established manufacturers to create new jobs and revenue. Each project is an investment in the future of Oklahoma and in this case, Ponca City. Visit OSU New Product Development Center UPCOMING.... Thur.
