WEEKLY UPDATE      January 26th, 2007
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE MONDAY
...as we look back on the week, there are several things that are in place that were not last Monday. There is a City resolution supporting the expansion of US 177 between Stillwater and Ponca City, there was a meeting with a new company seeking to grow here, two other meetings with companies, (one with very good news regarding hundreds of jobs and another with bad news involving four jobs), there were several work sessions with Pioneer Tech on training the human capital of Kay County, we also now have all of the zip codes needed for a regional update to the labor base study, hundreds of companies are now in our new software that were previously on hard copy, we met with our new partners in Tonkawa, we ZaZa'd, (see below), we completed the cost of living survey and we tweeked (computer jargon) our new GIS web page (coming soon).

ARE YOU THE BEST PLACE TO WORK???
...it's kinda tough being the best when everyone else foolishly thinks they are. Well it's put up or shut up time. Today is the deadline to enter "Best Places to Work in Oklahoma, 2007." Go to www.bestplacestoworkok.com before your SUV turns into a pumpkin tonight. The 25 finalists will be honored on May 3rd. This is an opportunity to promote your company as one of theeee places in the state to work. You'll also get an unbiased evaluation on your workplace to help you see how you stack up.

ZA ZINGS YOU DO IN DALLAZ
...representatives from throughout Oklahoma, led by the state Department of Commerce, converged on Dallas the last two days, with a goal of introducing Dallas-area business and site consultants to the bounty that await them north of the Red River. PCDA joined the expedition which featured visits with said business and site consultants, as well as a reception last night at the famed Hotel ZaZa, (it's an attitude thing).

CENTENNIAL INCLUDES OK BUSINESSES
...the first Oklahoma Centennial Business Expo, featuring an opportunity for all state businesses to recruit employees, find vendors, network with other businesses, learn about trends and more will be held on February 1st and 2nd at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. This event, co-sponsored by the State Chamber of which our own Ike Glass is Chair, has provided free tickets at the Ponca City Chamber for your use. The event is not named the way it is because the organizers expect to do it every one hundred years, if it's a success, look for a repeat a lot sooner that the bi-centennial. For information, please visit the event website, www.centennialbusinessexpo.com.
