Weekly Update

04/29/10

ALPHA WEEK...How was your week? PCDA worked with "party B" this week who was negotiating with "party F" on a specific issue that took two days to get, pretty much nowhere. We then met with "party H" on another issue that was more successful. "Party I" also was more productive but we can't say much more about that. On the other hand, our proposal to "Party J" is something we won't know if we were successful on for some time. We think we should be, but then there may be several other places that have amenities N, Q and R. We know that we're the only ones with T, however, but they wanted V and we don't have one of those. We hope they're a more T than V kind of company. Then there is "party W" who we just don't know what to think. In addition, PCDA worked with X, Y and Z, since they are already here and most of that news was positive, but not all. We toured the EDA through the UML this week as well. The Ponca City Leadership class worked with us this week on our new strategic plan and SAGE went to the OSU Energy Conference today in OKC.

CENSUS...PCDA thanks you, and we thank our own Katherine, "why did they have Dave May play me in Taste and Tasteless?" Long for a very successful census campaign. Of all Oklahoma's counties, Kay County had the best return rate through the initial stage. That's well above what we did ten years ago and a full 10% above the state's average of 665. For those bad at math, we returned 76% in Kay County. Congrats also to Chris Henderson and the Leadership Ponca City class that were so incredibly helpful in getting the word out. Census workers will start knocking on doors starting next week and PCDA has census forms in our office so if someone gives you the "dog ate my census form" line, just tell ‘em where to go.

TYSON...we have been getting a number of phone calls from people asking about a particular company, or the status of the project. Got it....you want it filled. Here's our secret...so do we! Remember, however, that rumors are just that...rumors until they are confirmed.

PIPELINE...PCDA Trustees will meet in a special meeting this Monday to discuss a possible lease with Price Gregory. After people have asked us about the latest Tyson rumor, they then asked about the pipeline project and "why is there equipment, apparently for Price Gregory, on the forty acre, PCDA owned land in the Airport Industrial Park directly north of Tyson." Okay, so maybe they didn't use those exact words, but we want you to know that they are there with temporary permission until we finalize the lease which could be Monday, Repeat after us, we love people who come into Ponca City and bring lots of money to spend here. Say that ten times fast and you'll understand why we're so gosh darn fun to work with.

NORTHRUP GRUMMAN...still others have asked us when Northrop Grumman will be here. Done. They're here, happily slaving away in the UML building. The renovations to their space are under way so they've doubled up on lab space but be nice to the person next to you in line at your favorite Ponca City restaurant. They may be an NGC employee.
